Lenz,

I agree. This smells like kernal to me. (I know about those, I fight
fires everytime an update gets made to AIX boxes I'm responsible for,
but I digress).

The idea of a timing issue is plausable. I have not done anything to
overclock my box. It is a standard issue Gateway 2000 Pentium II (300
Mhz).

I don't really believe that it is an egcs issue either (from another
post) although I thought I would throw that out to see if that was a
common thread.

The message occurs while the install display is going "#########..."
while installing packages. It stops, a red window pops up, gives a free
list error (address 8547784) and says to email Redhat. I don't think
this is a Redhat issue.

Please let me know if there is any other info I can provide. This is
really driving me nuts (it's a short trip).

Regards,

Jim Sabatke
