Freelists show up in a number of places (Oracle, UNIX, etc). They are
(almost?) always a reserved list of memory pages. The idea is that you
want to reserve a list(s) of blocks of memory for processes. This
provides a buffer of memory that, when exhausted, must be satisfied by
taking memory from other processes. This is a simplistic explaination;
if you would like more info, please ask.
