So. In case you missed the banter, your problem of copying the file TO the
DOS FAT may have had to do with the fact that the filename was outside the
8.3 file naming convention of FAT. If you wanted to see the file in DOS, you
needed to make sure that you renamed the file something within the 8.3
naming convention, or that VFAT support was correctly installed so that
copying the file to DOS allowed both filename entries to be made, 8.3 in the
real directory, and the pseudo-long file name in the attribute byte entry.
