98, NT, and ... SuSE

Need to know if anyone has gotten a setup like this to work. Here is what I
have currently.

Primary Partition:
250MB FAT 16

In the Logical Partition:
4GB FAT 32
4GB NTFS
4GB Unused

I want to install SuSE into the unused portion of the logical partition if
possible.

Here is what I have tried:

Installing SuSE and using its interface to create a partition in the empty
space. Resulted in an unbootable system, required re-install of 98 and NT.
I did install the LILO into the Linux partition.

Using partition magic, created an ext2 and Linux swap partition. Resulted
in an unbootable Windows NT before any attempt to install linux. Used PM to
remove Linux partitions. Win 98 and NT booted fine afterwards.

I have also tried creating another primary partition for Linux, which
resulted in a hang requiring fdisk (ouch).

Tools that I have at my disposal are partition magic (with boot magic (I
think its junk)), system commander, and system commander deluxe. I am
willing to use any boot manage as long as I can get this to work, whether it
be BM, SC, SCD, NT, or LILO.

TIA
Chris
