Rob,
I use the "username map" option in the global section of smb.conf.
Here you can map any NT user to any Linux user.
The entry in smb.conf looks something like:
[global]
username map = /usr/lib/samba/username.map
...and then in the /usr/lib/samba/username.map file:
unix username = Windows user name(s)
for example:
sysadmin = mike
So whenever I save any files from Win95 user "mike" to the exported file
system "share", they are owned on Linux by "sysadmin". This way you can add
several Windows users, while the permissions under Linux stay under the
control of one (application specific, maybe, but you get the general idea).
HTH,
Mike.
