Bill,

        I use to work for a fairly large x86 clone builder here in St. Louis
and I have see quantum drives ( both IDE and SCSI ) just break
internally. I was looking for another problem in a machine and I heard
strange noises from the HD and all of the sudden it make a loud cracking
sound and broke. It was very bizarre.

I recommend IBM, Fujitsu, WD or Seagates .. but I wouldn't touch a
quantum if it was free. :)
