I encountered the same problem while trying to install my scsi controller. My
conclusion then was that the parameters are obligatory, I got it working with
the following settings:
'modprobe aha152x aha152x=0x140,11,7,0,0'
When it's installed it should be visible with 'lsmod'.
For my card (a 1505i) it was important to fill all parameters otherwise it
didn't work. The way I did that: Look at the manual of my scsi card and
write down the possible settings (mainly the IO-ports). Then I tried
installing with the possible IO ports only till I found the one that worked
(device installed, but it still did not work properly). Next I continued with
the interrupt (look what is available in your '/proc/interrupts' file) and
so on... I must admit, it was a game of trial and error but I got it working in
the end. Hope it will help you too.
