Thanks for the tip regarding turning off the Axnet Server via Yast /System
Configuration, as I did not realize such an option existed. Have now done this.
The handbook accompanying the CDROM does not mention anything about the Axnet
Server, but I presume this is only needed for Oracle access on line.

Regarding the problem with Yast wanting to resolve dependencies by installing
<axdemo> , I managed to isolate the problem further by discovering that this
problem appears only if I install <helpeng> which is part of both demo and
regular versions.

You suggested that I should not select <AUTO> in the "Dependencies" Dialog but
the only other options are <CONTINUE> AND <ABORT>:

On selecting <CONTINUE> it seems to assume that I agree with the proposal to
install <axdemo> and if I select <ABORT> to assume that I do not want to
install <helpeng>. There should be a way to 'fool' Yast in order to get round
this snag but I cannot figure it out.
