Let me see if I've got this straight.

On just about every Linux list or site I see people recommending that we
advocate Linux by asking software companies to release Linux versions of
their software.

Now someone posts a message and says he has done just that and a number
of people heap scorn on him. I don't understand what you're telling us.
That we should NOT try and get Windows developers to write Linux
versions of software?

Perhaps the application in question has limited benefit to those of us
running Linux as a stand-alone workstation, but this appears not to be
the case for those running servers that need to detect viruses they may
pass on to their Windows clients. I will probably not use this software
on my own workstation but that does not mean I should ridicule the guy
for posting the message.
