Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion 6460 (ATI Rage Pro 8 MB, 9.6 GB Quantum HD,
Rockwell PCI 56K modem, Iiyama monitor with max 1600x1200). Recently
bought and installed Suse 6.0.
Problems:
1) Modem does not work. I found out only after I bought the machine
that it's a Winmodem. If I want to use a modem with Linux, is there
ANY alternative to buying a new modem ?
2) Maximum usable resolution that I can get is 1024x768. If I try 1280x1024
I get a slightly blurred image. Win98 is able to give me 1280x1024
without
any problems. Why am I not able to do so under Linux ?
3) Fonts look pathetic in X11. Am I not doing something right ? Are there
alternate fonts I can download ?
4) I have DOS (ok, Win98 :-) and Linux on the same hard disk. Boot using
LILO. How can I share files between them ? E.g. I might download stuff
using Win98 and then use it in Linux.
Thanks a lot. If I am missing out something in the FAQ please let me know. I
did read them and couldn't find anything useful.
