[SuSE Linux] Loading module for scsi card

I am new to SuSE but not linux.
I have always used a monolithic kernel. I just got the 6.1 release of SuSE
and they say you shouldn't rebuild the kernel else whey won't support you in
the first 60 days.
So, I need to use modules to configure my scsi card for my scanner.
In my old lilo.conf I had the following line:
append=aha152x=0x340,12,7
which worked very nicely.
Now, when I try to load the module for my card, I get device busy error. I
don't know the format for loading a scsi module and I haven't yet found a
good discussion of modules in the SuSE documentation. I looked in
conf.modules but didn't see anything like my scsi card.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Joel
