So, when someone accuses me of being too direct, I can say, "Oh, I am sorry.
It's the Shermantine blood in me :)" and go on.  Likewise, when someone says
to me, "Jon, get to the blasted point,"  I can respond, "My deepest, most
sincere apologies, kind Sir.  I do believe that it is the Pennington
heritage that betrays my communication skills at this endevour.  If you
please, disregard my flambouyant dialect, and go on :)"
