KDE and Gnome are both ambitious desktop programs. KDE is in a more
'polished' form right now, which is largely attibuted to its longer
development time. I'm not sure we will ever need a "winner", but at
this point both have certain advatages. Use whatever you like.

Gnome RPMs have been included in SuSE since at least 5.3, althogh I
believe they were in 5.2 as well. You are free to install them, though
none of them are in the Gnome 1.0.x series. 6.1 will have packages from
the 1.0.x series. You might also want to take a look at the FTP site in
suse_updates.
