No, AFAIK we have this tcl extension since we have wvdial on the
distribution.

Do you use KDE 1.1? There is now a new configuration switch for the
desktop properties: Style->"Apply fonts and colors to non-KDE apps".

Maybe this is what's irritating your xterm?
