[SuSE Linux] Suse 6.0 and lpd-problem

After I installed 6.0, my printer deamon(?) quit working. I can
print via the raw printer spool, but not via ascii or lp.
I can convert an apsfilter generated postscript file into PCL
for my HP dj670 with gs, then copy it to /dev/lp0 - prints fine.
apsfilter produces a postscript file /tmp/aps_out***. I believe gs
gets executed for this file, no output ends up in /tmp/gs_***, but
for each lpr-command some kB of new PCL-code surface in the
/var/spool/lpd/.../log file !
I had this problem with kernel 2.0.36 and now with 2.2.3.
By the way, what is the :la@: entry in the printcap-file generated by
YaST? I can't find it in man printcap.
Regards
O. A. Olsen
