[SuSE Linux] nfs with SMP with kernel 2.0.35

Attempting to load nfs.o on my S.u.S.E. 5.3 linux 2.0.35 system
configured for SMP and NFS results in the message:
/lib/modules/2.0.35/fs/nfs.o: unresolved symbol smp_spins
What has to be done to get NFS loaded on my multi-processor server?
