To All:
I am using Suse 5.3, and would like to change my mouse button mapping on a
Logitech Trackman Marble FX: I want to swap the left and middle buttons (I
find I get much less thumb discomfort when I use the middle button as the LMB;
and the lower, left real button as the occasional middle button)
At present it works fine in standard R handed 3 button mode (PS2).
To switch buttons -
xmodmap -e "pointer = 2 1 3" --> this works just fine if I run it in an xterm
window once I have kde or fvwm up and running.
However, I would like to place it in the proper startup file so it
automatically takes hold before starting a console window; and before
starting an X server/windows manager combination. I would also like this to
work when I log on either as root , or as a regular user.
I have looked at the following file locations:
/etc/profile
/etc/rc.config
etc/skel/.xinitrc
~/.xinitrc
What are the appropriate files for inserting the xmodmap line - considering the
logon options I am considering? (root/user, console/X)
Any suggestions or pointers to appropriate help files, howto's, URL's would be
much appreciated - I have already done some research, but no joy so far.
Many thanks -
Rick Stiphout
