If you mean, how to control where it installs SO,
then all you have to do is select the installation path when you run
./setup. Make sure  that you have write permission to the directory you
are installing SO to. You don't have to install it in /. You can put it
anywhere that is writable by the user running the install and that has
sufficient space.
