Unless you are dealing with Slackware, which uses the .tar.gz format like
S.u.S.E./RH uses rpm and Debian uses deb...you probably have a source
package, which means you can't just install it. You can either compile it
and install it or build an RPM from it and install that. YaST isn't going
to detect apps built from source code unless you put it in a format it'll
recognize, like RPM. Just remember when you're downloading stuff to make
notice of what the format is of the file, 990f the time a file with that
extension --.tgz or .tar.gz ( same thing ) is an uncompiled tarred and
gunzipped archive of a programs source files, usually with the stuff you
need to compile it, like a 'configure' script or a raw 'spec' and an
INSTALL file etc , included in the archive.
