[SuSE Linux] Apache default directory

I've been playing with Apache, and it seems that, by default, the "root"
directory for the httpd is /usr/docs/httpd/htdocs - in other words, if I
type in the name of my Linux machine to a web browser, it opens index.html
in that directory by default.
Where is this defined? I have searched everywhere I can think of! I want my
web server root directory to be elsewhere: can I define that in
/etc/httpd/httpd.conf?
Thanks for any help.
Keith
