I totally disagree with you on this. SuSE has the best documentation
I have seen from any Linux distro, bar none.

Why don't you just use lilo as the bootmanager and have it default to
window$. Try looking at pages 117-138 of the same manual. It explains
lilo. My personal opinion: forget loadlin. Lilo is much better.
