Do you mean that "insmod sound" dosn't work as root?
Did you do a "make modules_install" after building your kernel?
Did you compile sound as module?, or as part of the kernel?
You may have selected the wrong sound card options
when you built your kernel.
I quess you have to be more specific. What soundcard.
Is it pnp? Is it an AWE32?
Alot of things could cause this, and those error
messages seem weird, as if something is missing?
