I used yast to install the components from the Office 99 cd. My system is
a P166 classic with 80mb of memory. Applix is pretty snappy on that
system. I would have to be honest and say that 32mb may be somewhat slow.
I think though that the applix applications are somewhat designed for
modularity and may be good at stretching threads out. I used to use an
OS/2 word processor called DeScribe that did the same. It spun threads
out for several processes like printing, spellchecking, etc.

I dont believe you need a bootable diskette if you have a working linux
system. Just run yast with the Office 99 cd in place. I assume that all
the packages on the Office 99 cd are in rpm format; so other ways would
work as well. I would like to pitch to SuSE that they consider a
installation routine that would make use of yast for Office 99. Perhaps
running a setup script would launch yast or something? You could include
on the cd label, please run setup on the cd disk 1.
