I just had this problem. You can see peoples responses to my problem under
the title "Suse 5.3 Kernel build errors"
There are basically 2 solutions:
1) Make the kernel smaller by removing components you don't need and putting
the ones you do need into modules.
or
2) Instead of "make zImage" use "make bzImage".
