Please take this with a grain of salt, but it has to be said. ;-)

Someone may be hacking into your machine,
or you are getting power failures.
If someone hits <CNTRL_ALT_DEL> or the reset button, they
can hack into your system then reboot.
A knowledgable person can mount your filesystem without
a password if they can get to your keyboard.

Most likely, though, a short power failure, which you didn't
notice, but caused your machine to reboot.
