I'd strongly recommend "HTML 4 for the World Wide Web" by
Elizabeth Castro. It's part of the "Visual QuickStart Guide"
series. while not one of of those behemoth ( like the Unleashed, Teach
your Self series) This book presents *everything* in a clear, visual
fashion.
