I'm running SuSE 5.2 with a 2.0.35 kernel and I'm compiling support for
my PnP SB16 card directly into my kernel. As long as I run "isapnp" to
configure my sound card's I/O addresses, IRQ, and DMA values, sound is
working fine for me. I downloaded the entire 2.0.35 kernel source
tarball from the SuSE FTP site.
