Does anyone have positive experience with Staroffice?

I have not gotten it to run. The original verion 4.0
got a segmentaion error after the second screen.

Then I downloaded their service pack 3 - full version of
51 Meg.

Installed - it's not crashing anymore but hangs - i. e.
the buttons of their file manager-like interface stop to
function and the CPU consumption of staroffice approaches
100 %.  The window surface occupied by staroffice becames 
inactive too. When I move another window over the
staroffice area, it leaves a trail of the window moved on
in this area. The program has to be killed -9'ed.

Phone support would be an international call to Germany.
