Did you run wvdialconf to build the configuration file for WvDial?

If not, do:
wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

this will detect your modem, set initialization strings, etc.

You do need to edit and unremark the 3 lines: "phone", "Username" and
"Password" That should set it up to run your ppp.

If this is redundent info and of no help, I've found that dropping a
note to the WvDial list has been very helpful. Avery (one of the
authors) is quick to respond.
