[S.u.S.E. Linux] wvdial

I used wvdial to get a PPP connection and it appears to connect.
But I can't telnet or ftp. It says Hostname lookup failure.
I have my isp name servers in /etc/resolv.conf.
it looks like this:
earch .
nameserver 1.2.3.4
nameserver 11.22.33.44
can anyone help me?
