Are you trying to use samba via ppp?? The dummy0 device is simulated networking on your local box, not involving a NIC. I have never set up samba via ppp. If you are trying to reach a machine on
your lan, you will need an eth0 device instead of the dummy0 (or in addition to).

I am not real clear on what you are trying to accomplish here.
