Do you have the files /etc/apsfilterrc.* ?  I thought the -m option is set
by default, as said in 'man a2ps'.  In my /etc/a2psfilterrc, I even have
A2PS_OPTS commented out.  I have FEATURE=2n in /etc/a2psfilterrc because
want plain text files to be printed 2 pages per physical page.
