Recently, there was some talk about gaming stuff on Linux. I came across
this Super Nintendo emulator (most of you have probably got it or heard of
it, but for those that don't I thought I'd mention it in case you want to
follow it's development). It's called SNES9x, and I _believe_ ./ has
posted info periodically about it. It lets you run Super Nintendo games on
a Linux box and also (though I haven't tried it on any other OS) according
to what I read will run on Winblows and other platforms. There's a version
available now at the website, which I believe is <A HREF="http://www.snes9x.com</A">http://www.snes9x.com</A>. I
ran
a couple games I got off the web on it just out of curiosity and it
actually works pretty good, though
depending on what games you run, it's a bit resource intensive. The two
games I ran were a pacman hack and a Killer Instinct .smc from technoirs E
site. I think the official release is slated for November, but as usual (
and to avoid anymore bonehead snaffus on my part) don't quote me on it.
Of course, like with other emulators you'll need the right game files to
run it so you either will need official versions or to find some sites
that
have them available.
Have lots of fun,
Michael
