looks sensible. Dont know the bit about the !. In case of doubt try:

:0
* ^To:.*Smith
/var/spool/mail/smith

But if I look at the TO filed of *this* mail, I find
"suse-Linux-e@xxxxxxxx" there.
So I wonder about two things: wich filed contains *my* address and how
can I receive any mail if no field contains my address. i know i sound
somehow stupid, you question made me check the headers (for checking my
advice) and then wonder. ;-)
