It's hard to recommend a printer based on ppm. I've recently bought an
HP 890C which does colour & monochrome (using different ink cartridges
which is important for quality and economy). The speed varies hugely
depending on content: graphical stuff from StarOffice, for example,
takes a while but typical LaTeX pages seem to shoot out.

Considering the quality of output it seems cheap (about 230 English
pounds) & was trivial to configure with YaST. I guess the only down side
is that the colour & monochrome heads have to be perfectly aligned & you
need to run a Windows app to do this unless anyone knows better.
