[S.u.S.E. Linux] daylight saving time

On my SuSE 5.0 box (which runs so well I'm loth to go to 5.2) I have my
clock set to local (Alaska) time, rather than UTC. All was well until
the Great Cosmic Joke, daylight saving time came into effect. Whenever I
start up the clock is reset to AST, rather than ADT. It's easily enough
adjusted with netdate, but I would love to know why, and what I might do
to make it correct (other than wait for Autumn).

TIA,
phil
