[S.u.S.E. Linux] gimp segmentation fault

When I start X at 32 bits/pixel, Gimp gives me a segmentation fault as
soon as I start it. At 16 bits/pixel, Gimp functions normally. I am
running SuSE 5.2 with whatever version of XF86 that comes with it.
The Xserver I am using is XSuSE_Elsa_GLoria.
Another problem of minor note is that xvidtune will not run. It will show
the refresh rates, but will go no further.
Any suggestions on how to fix these problems would be greatly appreciated.
