Pasted this from linux-kernel, apologies to those who already recieve
this, but I had problems running egcs and this confirms that it wasn't
just me. I also have run gcc 2.8.0 and 2.8.1, both delivered less than
satisfactory results. Hence SuSE still ships with gcc 2.7.2.1, which
seems to do fine unless you want to run a recent dev kernel or use some
apps and apis that require gcc 2.8.x/egcs, like GNUstep. Hopefully gcc
or egcs will stabilize _Real_Soon_Now_, as the days left to the 2.0.x
kernel are dwindling.
