It should read sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx

The thing you are experiencing is a bug in the fglrx driver. OpenSUSE
bugzilla #115281. SL10.0 should work by not including any modelines.

If you havn't seen any tipps, then this might indicate that it just (TM)

No. It reinits in the form that the old configuration isn't parsed. The
new one is created from scratch.
