Will there be any updates of X.org or SAX2 for SuSE Linux 8.2 ?
X.org was never included in SuSE 8.2, so I guess there will never be an official version for it. Are there any bugs in SaX2 that have to be fixed?
The screen resolution is always changed when I boot the computer, it is too high for my monitor. And if I set it to the right resolution with SAX2, it gets changed back for some strange reason.
SuSE Linux 8.2 is still suported by SuSE, and I can get updates for it. But only for kde and security related stuff, not for SAX2 or the X server. The X server for 8.2 is Xfree86, I would like to replace it with X.org.
Download the sources for X.org and follow the description in the INSTALL file.
Why can't I get any updates for SAX2 or X.org for this version, altough it is still a suported version of SuSE ?
"Supported" doesn't mean that every new product will be released in a SuSE 8.2 version be SuSE. Usually even version updates of software included in SuSE 8.2 are not available through YOU, only bug fixes.
Or do you have a maintenance contract with SuSE? Linux is still free software, you don't have to pay SuSE for using SuSE 8.2 or even 9.1.
Ok, but I do not use YOU (yet) because I can not go on the internet in Linux, I go to the website of SuSE and download the updates one by one from there. As soon as I have my router I can go online with Linux and use YOU for my updates. No I have no maintenance contract with SuSE Thanks anyway Greetings Walter Kerkhofs
