Yes, and, BTW, I installed SuSE 8.2 three times on that machine (due to HD
changes) but I had the same problems each time.

I just did another YOU update and made sure that all X-server related stuff
gets updated. However, the problem persists.

I attached /var/log/boot.msg for a first overview. If more info is needed,
let me know. However, I am almost certain that the problem is X server
related because my system always freezes when something graphically is done
(e.g. turning off the background image in KDE or visiting the logo
competition pages on www.fvwm.org). I just had further support for that
theory: I typed in www.fvwm.org in Mozilla, continued doing something else
on another virtual screen, went back, and immediately the system freezed.
So loading the page was not the problem, but displaying it.

Then what else can I do. It really sucks that I can't visit some of my
favorite web pages and that, in general, I have to be very careful when
surfing unknown pages on the web because I might experience a system freeze
at any time. Buhuhu :(

Yes, and, BTW, I installed SuSE 8.2 three times on that machine (due to HD
changes) but I had the same problems each time.

I just did another YOU update and made sure that all X-server related stuff
gets updated. However, the problem persists.

I attached /var/log/boot.msg for a first overview. If more info is needed,
let me know. However, I am almost certain that the problem is X server
related because my system always freezes when something graphically is done
(e.g. turning off the background image in KDE or visiting the logo
competition pages on www.fvwm.org). I just had further support for that
theory: I typed in www.fvwm.org in Mozilla, continued doing something else
on another virtual screen, went back, and immediately the system freezed.
So loading the page was not the problem, but displaying it.

Then what else can I do. It really sucks that I can't visit some of my
favorite web pages and that, in general, I have to be very careful when
surfing unknown pages on the web because I might experience a system freeze
