Yes - MediaWiki does not generate a class="new" - don't know whether 
this is intentional or a bug.

This page is auto-generated and I haven't found a way to change the text
MediaWiki:Nowatchlist also applies to users that are logged in but do 
not watch pages.

MediaWiki:Lonelypages is a headline - there is no way to add normal 
text.

The same that was said on MediaWiki:Lonelypages goes for these pages as 
well.

I go with Christian - this needs to be fixed in MediaWiki. Please feel 
free to file an enhancement request in the MediaWiki bugzilla
