I doubt these messages are related to the hang, but just in case they
are - you'd want to blacklist edd.ko (or eliminate whatever leads to
it getting loaded; this happening multiple times makes me uncertain
where to point you, normally I would have told you to edit
INITRD_MODULES in /etc/sysconfig/kernel and re-create the initrd).
Hi Jan
I used brokenmodules=edd, which gave an interesting result - on the
console, I see one instance of:
[ 1.382786] BIOS EDD facility v0.16 2004-Jun-25, 0 devices found
[ 1.382815] EDD information not available.
but the system still ends up hanging. Without blacklisting 'edd', I
get 20-30 repeats of the above, but I agree, it's not likely to be
causing the hangup.
Ah well, I'll keep looking.
Okay, I'm making a little progress - I added "xencons=tty" to the
command line, and the guest now continues wtih dhcp.
Which means the system didn't really hang, you just didn't see it make
progress anymore.
