Has anyone had success in turning on Xen Security Modules (XSM)? If you have, would you please share how you did it? [opensuse-virtual] SCO Openserver 5 on Xen 3.2

Anybody got Openserver running on Xen?, I did a migration to VirtualBox and it was working fine. Now the users report performance issues. I still didn't check the machine but I'm considering as a last resort moving that machine to Xen on SLES10SP2. Anyone has done something similar? [opensuse-virtual] Xen on 11.1 and network configuration

Hi, i've been using Xen with SLES10SP2 for some time and now I need run some domUs on opensuse 11.1. From the Xen config file I see that the configuration shouldn't be done with the xen scripts but with the distribution's tools. >From virt-manager I can see a option for "Virtual Network" option that states: "Choose this options if your host is disconnected, connected via wireless or dynamically configured with NetworkManager", but there are no entries in the dropdown list and I can't find how to add them. >From the list's archive I found this post: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-virtual/2009-01/msg00018.html. But doesn't seem to work. I need to use NetworkManager and I'm trying to add two interfaces to the domU, one only to communicate with other domUs and with the dom0, and a second one that should be bridged to the public network. [opensuse-virtual] console-kit-daemon in a Xen guest. why, and how to disable it?

i'm 'trimming' a headless-server Xen guest's memory/process usage. checking top, i note, PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND ... 1369 root 20 0 9324 2188 1436 S 0 0.4 0:00.00 console-kit-daemon ... reading @, http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/opensuse11/consolekit.html "ConsoleKit is a system daemon for tracking what users are logged into the system and how they interact with the computer (e.g. which keyboard and mouse they use)." as i'm on a headless guest (@ a hosted VPS ...), it's not clear why at all console-kit-daemon's needed, or launched in the 1st place. as the package list referenced above includes lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Jun 7 02:21 /usr/sbin/rcconsolekit -> /etc/init.d/consolekit i thought i could simply turn the service off. but, chkconfig --list | grep -i console (empty) checking, ls -al /etc/init.d/consolekit /bin/ls: cannot access /etc/init.d/consolekit: No such file or directory given that i've lsb_release -d Description: openSUSE 11.1 (i586) rpm -qa | grep ConsoleKit ConsoleKit-0.2.10-60.27.1 checking, rpm -qa --changelog ConsoleKit | grep -A1 -B1 script * Fri Sep 26 2008 hmacht(a)suse.de - remove rc-script. ConsoleKit is activated on demand with D-Bus system activation (bnc#428228) @, Bug 428228 - consolekit should not have an rc script https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=428228 simply suggests, consolekit should not have an rc script I think, i think it will just be activated when needed these days and there looks like a potential race between consolekit and haldaemon currently because of the startproc usage. [opensuse-virtual] Novell-compatible make world for Xen

We are building a security oriented hypervisor based on the openSUSE 11.1 Xen source code. If we run "make world" using that source, make goes after the linux-2.6.18-xen.hg source code. We can figure a way around this by ourselves, but we would like to do it in a way that remains compatible with the Novell approach. Is there any documentation on how to do this, so that we don't create a problem by defining yet another build approach? Just downloading the openSUSE Xen source RPM apparently does not give us anything but the conventional Xen Makefile that wants to phone home.
