My "favorite" bug is quite old (and fixed), but unfortunately not public. (Hint: If you ever meet Jana Jaeger, ask her about paperclips...) Besides that, all my bug reports (and those on my watchlist) that are not marked as FIXED are favorite bugs for me ;-)
bugzilla entry had not been touched since July 2008, and the only comment was your original entry. That bug report was dead. It is unlikely that anyone from openSUSE/Novell was going to handle it.
You are basically right, however closing the bugs as NORESPONSE looks like a BOfH method to me. Yes, I retested with the latest version and reopened the bug, _but_: I'm quite sure lots of people will not do this. (In other words: IMHO I'm _not_ like the average Mr. Bugreporter.)
Have you filed a bug report with Mozilla? For problems with Firefox or Thunderbird, that is my preferred route. I don't always get satisfaction, but at least someone follows up on it. With this flurry of activity, perhaps the bnc-team-mozilla will look at this.
