Hi!
Sorry that I missed the meeting. I have been testing the RC1+ build
Gnome and KDE desktops and I would like to report some problems that I
did find with it ["own experience of RC1+"]. By the way most of my Intel
945G chipset related problems [including a critical freeze] were solved
only with the very latest updates to the xorg stack
[see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615649#c11].

1. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=617651
Found this new bug leaving an ugly Xorg crash every time the game
quadrapassel [default Gnome installation] is quit.

2. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=602727
Website garbling problem reported earlier is now solved with the Xorg
upgrades mentioned earlier.

3. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=609778
Noticed this problem from the software manager in YaST (in fact created
a duplicate bug 617763 by oversight).

4. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615927
Focus stealing problem in YaST's gtk interface was not yet solved, but
the fix has just been submitted to factory now.

5. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615659
Poor rendering of tooltips with compiz enabled is still a very visible
problem, and unlike most of the other x related problems I had, this was
not solved even by the most recent updates in Factory.

6. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=617715
Reported this silly little suggestion to improve Live-CD volume names :)

7. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=615646
Problem with ghost windows after resuming from suspension still persists
on my system, but the latest commit
[https://hermes.opensuse.org/messages/4386607] will hopefully do the
trick.

8. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=613822
Lastly, this is the most painful bug to see from a usability point of
view [thank goodness I use the gtk interface for YaST]. Seems like there
is no fix in sight for this "enhancement" which is now quite a bug
because of the difference in the behaviour of options in the yast2-gtk
and yast2-qt interfaces. It seems reasonable that a user would expect
his setting to remain across yast sessions. One does not change the
proxy in firefox and see it restored to some default the next time he
starts it. But that is exactly what happens with the options in YaST's
qt interface now.

Also noticed already reported bug 597162 about device-notifier widget
missing from the default KDE desktop.

On a happier note, the gimp branding and splashy branding [bug 615318]
are now consistent with the 11.3 theme [as of RC1 this was still a
problem].

So there it is, my experience with RC1+ --- not completely free of
problems but, well, that is why it is not GM yet :)

Thanks for reading, and bye
