The Live-CD has full translations for English, French, German, Italian,
Polish
and Russian. This is a massive improvement over previous Live-CDs. The DVD
has more space and therefore has many more languages. The presence of
partial
support for other languages is probably an unintended consequence of the way
languages are packaged for openSUSE. Smaller apps often have a monolithic
"appname-lang" package that includes a broad swath of translations. The only
real solution to this would be to publish Live DVDs. SUSE Studio would be
helpful in this regard.

Otherwise, I suppose it would be a good idea to suppress listing the other
languages at the boot screen...that should prevent people from getting the
incorrect impression that the disc has full translations for their language.

Shouldn't full translation packages be pulled by the online repository
during the first update (in final at least) if an incomplete language is
installed?

Even if this is not true, the conversion to a fully translated system
can be obtained by simply using the corresponding YaST module, which
will take care of installing the packages corresponding to the selected
language.

Best,
A.
