Avira has changed to a new major version of their virus scanner a few weeks ago. The old version is now deprecated and you should find according hints in your logs. Updating the old version is dependent on luck and takes a lot of time. Download the new version, that should solve your problem. The new version has some new features like mail notifications for missing updates and the like. That was something I had to script for the old version. Better delete the entire /usr/lib/AntiVir directory and start fresh with the new installation. Updates are no longer downloaded by "antivir --update", it is replaced with the command: /usr/lib/AntiVir/avupdate --product=Guard Just set up a cronjob to run the command. Another change is that integration into amavisd-new is no longer working, I found a working setting in the forum: ### Avira for UNIX 3.x ['Avira AntiVir', ['avscan'], '-s --batch --alert-action=none {}', [0], qr/FUND:/, qr/FUND: ([^;.]+) ;/m ], There are several other changes like the quarantine home directory. You need to change the setting in /etc/avira/avguard.conf and /etc/avira/avscan.conf to: QuarantineDirectory /var/spool/amavis/virusmails/ Otherwise you get errors and complaints in your logs. Aside from that you need the usual settings to change the notification email address and such. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-security+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-security+help@opensuse.org
