[opensuse-security] ACLs, HAL and serial devices (was: HAL and serial devices)

Hello, inspired by the thread "Want to could use /dev/ttyS0 as user" on the opensuse-factory maling list, I tried to figure out whether access to /dev/ttyS0 can be granted by HAL/resmgr (since this works fine with the alsa devices). According to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/90osvendor/80-resmgr.fdi, access to serial devices should be granted to "members" of the resmgr modem class (desktop users are not "member" of this class by default). [opensuse-security] Java update needed for OpenSUSE 10.3

The lastest Java packages are 1.5.0_update15 and 1.6.0_update6 in OpenSUSE 10.3, but Sun relased newer version of Java including fixes for security vulnerabilities. Hi, mktemp RPM is broken, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=495193. Opensuse 11 (coreutils) does it right. Previous versions (packet mktemp) provide under some circumstances no or not sufficient randomness and thus could lead to predictable file names. [opensuse-security] discontinuation of SuSE 10.2 ?

Has a date been fixed for the discontinuation of security support for SuSE 10.2? My guess from previous precedent is roughly Jan 2009, but a more authoritative statement would be welcome (as a would a roadmap on the SuSE web site). [opensuse-security] IPTables for transparent proxy

Hi All, I have a SuSE 11.0 box acting as a DANSGuardian, SQUID, Firewall and router. There are two interfaces, eth0 is inside with 10.0.0.1/8 and the outside is 24.x.x.x on a cable modem. I have setup NAT and MASQ and it works great. I've setup Dans and SQUID, and if I setup an inside client with proxi to either 10.0.0:1:8080 (Dans) or 10.0.0.1:3128 (Squid) it works great. I'm looking for the way to tell SuSEfirewall to invisibly redirect any trafix from the inside interface to 127.0.0.1:8080 to invisibly check and proxy that trafic. FW_REDIRECT=10.0.0.1/8,0/0,tcp,80,8080would seem to be the answer, but if does not work, and if I do iptables-save it should the a new rule is added to the OUTSIDE interface that marks and logs that trafic, but redirects nothing. It seems to me I used to do this with packet mangling in the prerouting table... What am I missing?
