X-)

Didn't know what to take out... it is set as a "reply" to the
announcement made in the RO list.

I don't remember about the release notes right now. could be.

The funny thing is that it has worked till now, since I installed last
march.

Well, not exactly. I see I wrote a note for myself in the
/etc/modprobe.d/sound file. Right after install (an upgrade from 9.1)
sound did not work, Yast was unable to set it up right. So I copied the
sound line from 9.1, I think:

options snd-intel8x0 ac97_clock=0 ac97_quirk=-1 enable=1 index=0 joystick=0
# # W60f.iC9KKoQ5aqD:82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio
# alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0

but it did not work, I got that error:

# Starting sound driver: intel8x0FATAL: Error inserting snd_intel8x0 (/lib/modules/2.6.11.4-20a-default/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
# y en kernel log:
# Apr 24 01:01:44 nimrodel kernel: snd_intel8x0: Unknown parameter `joystick'
# Apr 24 01:01:45 nimrodel last message repeated 5 times
#
# a pesar de que ya no est lo de joystick.
# Faltaba un depmod, ya arranca el sonido.

The last two lines translate: "even though joystick is not there" and "a
depmod was required, sound starts now."

My notes are cryptic even to myself, but it seems that I tried to remove
the joystick token, did not work (or perhaps I set it to 0, don't know),
but it finally worked after running depmod.

What I do know is that it has worked with the "joystick" word in there for
months, till this update. I have not touched that configuration, unless
some Yast script did.

Interesting ;-)

I can't check, I don't have the bandwidth to participate, unfortunately.
Wish I could...
